CM Punk And Bryan Danielson Set For Imminent AEW Return?
With recent positive updates on the injury status of Kenny Omega and Adam Cole, could CM Punk and Bryan Danielson also be looking to return to action in the near future?
In recent months, AEW has been hit with a series of injuries to high-profile stars. It has been a difficult time for the promotion with their World Champion, CM Punk, taking time off for surgery, while top stars like Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole also being sidelined.
It was recently reported that Adam Cole won’t be undergoing surgery for a shoulder problem and is recovering well from his other concussion-related issues. It has also been noted that Omega could be nearing a return.
Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Kenny Omega is targeting a return at All Out, although he noted it’s too early to say that he will be there for sure. On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer also said that the event could be the target for CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.
“He’s hoping to be at All Out, but it’s too soon to say that he will or he won’t. It’s not… he’s hoping for it. That’s kind of the target right now. The Chicago show is a target for that, I think it’s the target for Punk, but I don’t think that either of them are sure things.
It’s probably the target for Danielson too. All of those guys coming back would probably give them a shot in the arm. Omega, basically, doesn’t really wanna talk about it, and nothing’s for sure. But he would like to be back for that show, that would be a good idea. That’s the hope.”
Soon after winning the AEW World Championship from Hangman Adam Page at Double or Nothing, CM Punk revealed that he needed to take time off for surgery. Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson has been out since the same show with an injury that is currently undisclosed but believed to be a concussion-related issue.
