Chris Jericho Shares His Goal & Mission In AEW

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has opened up about his ongoing mission in AEW as he looks toward the Four Pillars Match at Double or Nothing.

The Former AEW World Champion is focused on helping develop “as many stars” as he can, and use his name to bring eyes on the young talent learning their craft in the company.

Jericho was the biggest name to join forces with AEW after signing a long-term deal in January 2019 ahead of the first Double or Nothing PPV where he defeated Kenny Omega.

Over the last 4 years, Jericho has worked tirelessly to share the ring and on-screen time with many AEW Stars, with his aim to bring more eyeballs to their matches.

With tonight’s Double or Nothing to promote, Jericho has been able to reflect on the influence he has had on nurturing the four competitors taking part in the World Championship main event.

The Head of the Jericho Appreciation Society spoke with Spoof about what he is trying to achieve in AEW.

“My goal and mission when I came to AEW was to build as many stars as we could, quickly, because you only have a short window of time that people are interested in this new promotion.

Chris Jericho may have got them to the show but it can’t all be about me. Yeah I’m proud of them. And they’ve earned it. No one deserves it.

‘You deserve it’ is my least favourite chant. It should be ‘You earned it’, because they’ve earned that chance and that spot and they’ve done a great job with it.”

The WWE Grand Slam Champion shared his pride at seeing MJF, Sammy Guevara, Jack Perry, and Darby Allin headlining Double or Nothing.

“That’s why I worked with Max for a year and why I’ve had Sammy with me pretty much since he came into the company, with the exception of a few months. Those guys were always earmarked to be stars.

“And Darby and Jungle Boy too, I worked with them the first few months of AEW’s existence and realised they were both amazing.”

Chris Jericho has hit back at fans claiming he buries AEW Talent, but will now be focusing on hos own battle, as he faces off against Adam Cole in an unsanctioned match, which will see ECW Legend Sabu in Cole’s corner.
