Brock Lesnar Turned Down Bray Wyatt Match At WrestleMania

Brock Lesnar Bray Wyatt WWE

Brock Lesnar asked to not compete against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania.

At one point it looked like The Beast and The Eater of Worlds were set to collide on the grandest stage but the match never took place. As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar requested to not work with Wyatt. There was no personal animosity behind the call, just that Lesnar felt that Wyatt was not the right opponent for his character.

Following Wyatt facing LA Knight at the Royal Rumble in the Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match, which was the former World Champion’s only televised match following his return to the company, Wyatt set his sights on two of the most dangerous performers in WWE.

Lesnar would face Bobby Lashley at Elimination Chamber. On the go-home episode of SmackDown, Wyatt warned Lesnar and Lashley to run, implying that one of them would meet him at WrestleMania. Lashley won the match via disqualification and looked set for a Mania showdown with the Firefly Funhouse presenter while Lesnar would go on to a program with Omos.

Wyatt would make no more televised appearances after Elimination Chamber as he was battling illness, instead taunting Lashley via pre-recorded messages. The match never took place and Lashley did not have a match at WrestleMania, instead winning the Andre The Giant Battle Royal trophy on the go-home episode of SmackDown.

The warning to Lesnar and Lashley would be Wyatt’s final in-person appearance as the former WWE Champion passed away on August 25th 2023 at just 36 years old.

Multiple superstars have also paid tribute in a touching video.

Brock Lesnar Not Expected To Make UFC Return

With The Beast entering the closing stages of his combat career it has been speculated whether or not Lesnar will have a one-off match or one final run with the promotion. UFC President Dana White has said in an interview that he thinks a Lesnar return is doubtful.
