Brock Lesnar SummerSlam Plans Don’t Involve Top Star

A potential Brock Lesnar dream match against a top WWE star is apparently not the plan for SummerSlam, according to a new report.

Ever since he was called up to the WWE main roster one year ago, GUNTHER has been a dominant force on the Smackdown brand. While he has lost tag team matches with his Imperium buddies, GUNTHER has held the Intercontinental Title for over 300 days and has yet to be pinned on the main roster.

During most interviews he has, GUNTHER gets asked about a WWE opponent he really wants to face and he almost always mentions wanting to face Brock Lesnar.

As for Brock Lesnar, he recently said he would really like to have a match with GUNTHER, but he “doesn’t make the calls” about who he wrestles. However, Lesnar did turn down a potential match with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania and instead faced Omos, so Lesnar does have at least some say in what he does in WWE.

Earlier this week, there was a report from WRKD Wrestling about how WWE was thinking of “potentially” having Lesnar face GUNTHER at some point this summer. No specific show or date was given in that report.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that there are no plans for Lesnar to face GUNTHER right now.

“Right now there are no plans for Lesnar vs. Gunther at SummerSlam or Lesnar vs. Gunther any time soon. Of course that can change because it is a viable match but if Lesnar is scheduled on SummerSlam there is already a direction that isn’t Gunther.”

If we know anything about the WWE creative team, especially now with Vince McMahon getting involved, it’s that things can always change.

Brock Lesnar is currently feuding with Cody Rhodes following his vicious attack on the April 3rd edition of Raw. Lesnar will be back on Monday’s Raw and it’s expected that his match against Cody Rhodes will main event Backlash on May 6th in Puerto Rico.
