A big match that was rumored for WrestleMania 39 may still happen in a few months’ time.

In the months leading up to WrestleMania, rumors surrounding Brock Lesnar’s match indicated constant changing of plans. It appeared that Lesnar’s opponent changed several times, with his possible opponents including Bobby Lashley, Bray Wyatt, and GUNTHER, before finally settling on Omos.

And while Lesnar has finished his business with Omos, his business with one of those aforementioned alternate challengers hasn’t.

According to a tweet from WRKD Wrestling – an account that has shown to have some accuracy in making WWE-related predictions – Brock Lesnar might end up having his big match with GUNTHER sometime this summer.

“While Gunther has publicly stated during interviews that he’d like a match with Brock Lesnar, the idea has been floated backstage to potentially have them face off sometime this summer.”

GUNTHER himself has stated several times that he wants to face Lesnar, whom he considers his “final boss of wrestling”.

If Lesnar and GUNTHER do end up facing off, one has to wonder whether GUNTHER will still be Intercontinental Champion at that point. WWE has two confirmed PLEs taking place this summer: Money In The Bank on July 1st and SummerSlam on August 5th.

If WWE intend on having GUNTHER break the all-time Intercontinental Championship title length record, then he would have to hold the title through both of those events and into September.
