Brian Pillman Jr. Signs With WWE
After plenty of speculation since leaving AEW, it would seem Brian Pillman Jr. has put pen to paper on a deal with WWE and has a potential start date.
During his time in AEW, The second-generation star aligned with Griff Garrison in 2020, forming the Varsity Blonds. They were eventually joined by Julia Hart, who eventually left the group after being lured into the House of Black. While the faction made sporadic appearance on Dynamite and Rampage, they were mostly relegated to Dark and Dark: Elevation, and Pillman hasn’t wrestled on television since the February 1st episode of Rampage, where he lost to Swerve Strickland.
It was towards the beginning of July that Brian Pillman Jr. was removed from the AEW roster on the company’s website, with confirmation soon after that he had departed. It didn’t take long for the generational star to resurface, as he was spotted at the WWE Performance Center just days later with reports at the time saying that whilst he was definitely there, it was more as a “get to know you” meeting than a formal tryout or contract offer.
However, a new report from Pro Wrestling Insider notes that it’s believed Pillman has agreed to join the company.
When Could Pillman Jr. Start With WWE?
In addition to noting that he has put pen to paper, the report also comments that Brian Pillman Jr. is expected to be in attendance at this week’s NXT tapings. Although that doesn’t confirm he’ll be making an on-screen appearance, it does at least mean that it looks like he won’t be out of the loop for too long.
An AEW legend has also given a vote of confidence for what Pillman is going to be able to do next, saying that whilst it wasn’t working out in AEW he’s certain he’ll have a very successful career.
