Brandi Rhodes Was “Hurt” By Criticism Of AEW Women’s Division
Brandi Rhodes opened up about her work in the AEW women’s division, admitting that part of the job was very painful.
When All Elite Wrestling formed in 2019, Brandi Rhodes took on the title of Chief Brand Officer and was instrumental in a number of behind-the-scenes roles. She was also heavily involved in working with the AEW women’s division, and in a recent interview with Ring the Belle, she opened up about wanting to be approachable to members of the roster backstage.
“I really did just want to be somebody who was there for the women to kind of run things by. Sometimes it’s tough to talk to men about what our issues are, or what we’re trying to do. So I kind of wanted to be there to bridge the gap, and I think in the beginning things worked out really well with that. And, you know, I don’t know if they stayed [working].”
“That Was Hurtful” – Brandi Rhodes On No One Coming To Her Defense
Continuing, Rhodes admitted that she was often hurt when no one came to her defense when she faced heavy criticism regarding the women’s division in AEW.
“What was the most hurtful about it, to me, was not that people looked to me and said, ‘Hey, do something about this, or ‘Maybe this is your fault,’ but that no one stood up and said that it’s not. There were plenty of people that I felt like could have stepped in and said, ‘Hey, you guys, this is a joint effort. This is not all on this one person.’ But that never was done, and never was said. To this day, I feel like this is the first time I’m talking about that. That was hurtful.”
While her husband Cody returned to WWE after the couple left AEW in February of 2022, Brandi Rhodes has stayed out of the world of wrestling, saying she’s happy to have walked away from the squared circle as she takes on other projects in her life.
