Ben Affleck Could Play Hulk Hogan In Controversial Film

A movie about a controversial time in Hulk Hogan’s life could lead to one of the world’s biggest movie stars playing The Hulkster in the film.

Hulk Hogan is most known for being a two-time WWE Hall of Famer who is one of the most recognizable people in the history of pro wrestling. Whether you like him or not, The Hulkster is well-known worldwide.

While Hogan was known for what he did in the ring, he has also had multiple controversies outside of the ring. In October 2012, the website Gawker posted a sex tape of Hulk Hogan with a woman named Heather Clem, who is the ex-wife of Hogan’s former friend Bubba The Love Sponge, a radio talk show host. Hogan ended up suing Gawker. In March 2016, a jury voted in support of Hogan.

The Gawker lawsuit led to Hulk Hogan getting paid $115 million in compensatory damages along with $60 million for emotional distress. Hogan was also awarded $25 million in punitive damages. That’s a total of over $200 million. The Gawker website died as a result of the lawsuit.

Pete Thiel is a co-founder of Paypal who paid $10 million to support lawsuits against Gawker, which included Hogan’s legal battle. That’s because Thiel hated Gawker for posting an article saying that he was gay even though he didn’t give them his consent.

It has been reported by PWInsider that Hollywood A-Listers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon plan to make a movie called “Killing Gawker.”

The report adds that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artist Equity production company is planning a January 2025 production launch for the movie. If the project moves forward, Affleck would play Hogan and Damon would play Thiel.

There is a screenplay for “Killing Gawker” that was written by Charles Randolph, who is a 2016 Academy Award winner for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Big Short. PWInsider added that “Randolph’s screenplay is based on the February 2018 book “Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue” by Ryan Holiday.”

Hulk Hogan Movie Likely Not Being Made

Over the last several years, there were stories about a Hulk Hogan biopic being made with Chris Hemsworth playing The Hulkster. The initial reports about this movie possibly happening goes back over five years to 2019. However, there haven’t been many updates on it since and it appears as though it won’t happen after all.
