Hulk Hogan Gives Update On Biopic Starring Chris Hemsworth

Hulk Hogan Chris Hemsworth

Hulk Hogan has revealed that the biopic about his life starring Chris Hemsworth will not be produced any time soon.

Back in 2019, it was first reported that the legendary career of Hogan would be immortalised on the big screen with the star of the Thor franchise playing the leading role. However, years after news first broke the film has yet to start production.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Hulk Hogan admitted that due to a “business glitch” by the production company, the project looks to have been cancelled:

“Yes, I do [have an update]. So it was a situation where business-wise, Netflix kind of like missed the date, you know, as far as a business situation. And so I had the choice at that time to switch gears. Scott Silver wrote the script, you know, he wrote The Joker and a bunch of different movies. And of course, Todd Phillips has done the Joker Wolf of Wall Street and you know, whatever. All the crazy stuff that he did.

But yeah, the script came back. It was amazing. I mean, because my favorite movies are like Scarface, The Godfather, True Romance, it was there, it was there. And I just thought, Whoa, but all of a sudden there was a business glitch, you know, and then they tried to fix it a few days later. And I’d already decided to move on. So, my life rights and stuff are somewhere else now. And there are a lot of things that are getting ready to happen. And hopefully, Todd Phillips and Chris Hemsworth will still want to play. But there’s still a huge opportunity there.”

When asked about the film being made in the future, the Hall of Famer revealed that Hemsworth is the only actor he wants to portray him:

“Well, Chris [Hemsworth] was the one I always [wanted]. Even before we get into this. I said, if anybody ever played Hulk Hogan, I want to be Chris Hemsworth. You know, his birthday is the same day as mine. So we talked, I think once about the whole situation, he was all excited, because he told me he’d never played a real person before.

[He said] Oh, my gosh, your life is so interesting. This is so crazy. This could be the biggest thing I’ve ever done. And yeah, and Scott Silver, the writer who wrote The Joker uses, this is the most amazing script I’ve ever written. So it’s powerful. It’s in a different place, but there will be an opportunity for everybody to regroup.”

Hulk Hogan Details Scrapped WrestleMania Match

Despite being one of the most recognisable names in the history of wrestling, Hulk Hogan never had a final match to close the book on his history-making career. In the same interview, Hogan revealed that there were plans to face another WWE legend at WrestleMania, but plans had to be changed close to the event.
