Santos Escobar Details What WWE Backlash Was Like With Bad Bunny
Santos Escobar has opened up about working with Bad Bunny, and the emotion of being in the ring with a modern-day Frank Sinatra.
Bad Bunny returned to WWE action in Puerto Rico as part of the WWE Backlash event last month. The singer took on Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight.
Bunny’s arrival was greeted by a huge roar by the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot crowd, who after being vocal all evening, took it to another level after his song Chambea started.
During the match, members of The Judgment Day interfered in the match, which led to the LWO, and two surprise guests coming to the aid of Bad Bunny.
Carlito and Savio Vega both made shocking returns to WWE, and just over a month on from the May 6th event, LWO member Santos Escobar has shared just how incredible it felt to be involved.
Appearing on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar spoke about the Backlash experience and how it felt to work with the world’s “biggest artist” Bad Bunny.
“It was such a beautiful emotion and all the things we did, we did interviews and we did activities with the kids from the island. That just being involved with Savio and Carlito and Bad Bunny, I mean, he’s the biggest artist right now.
We’re in the ring with him. It’s surreal, isn’t it? I mean, I was just discussing this with my mom yesterday at her new house. How magical this last four or five months have been in my life. Like every wonderful thing. It stopped by the very next one and so on. And I’m just so happy that we’re all together enjoying this. And Puerto Rico was just like a cherry on top.”
Escobar highlighted that right now, Bad Bunny is so popular, that he draws comparisons with some of the all-time music legends.
“He’s big. Like being in the ring with Frank Sinatra back in the day, you know, like, I don’t know. He’s, he’s everywhere. And we’re right there with him. He’s having a match. He won the match and now we’re celebrating with him. He’s LWO.”
Backlash was Bad Bunny’s first singles match in WWE, and with his popularity, it appears the company is looking to secure further opportunities to work with the three-time world’s most-streamed artist on Spotify.
Escobar added that the Latino World Order celebrated with Bad Bunny after the match, and how happy the singer was with his WWE experience.
Yeah, we did before the matches and then after the matches we had a little celebration. He was really happy. We were all happy because I mean when I’m performing. I’m fine because I’m doing the match so I know everything’s gonna be alright.
But in this case, none of us had the match. He had the match, so he was the one that had to deliver and he delivered. So we were all really happy.”
Santos Escobar is preparing for the Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match in London on Saturday, July 1st, after he defeated Mustafa Ali to qualify.
