Babyface Turn Could Be Imminent After AEW Star’s Return

Killswitch blur AEW logo

A heel wrestler’s loss at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door might be a tough pill for them to swallow.

But the defeat may have a silver lining, as it could transition them into a babyface.

Killswitch returned to the Florida promotion after nearly a year-long absence due to health complications he suffered in September 2024.

The 40-year-old star was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive by his fiancé. The analysis detected double pneumonia, with the doctor claiming that he was days away from permanent lung damage.

When he left, The Patriarchy, of which he was a member, was a tight-knit unit, led by Christian Cage. However, Cage was banished on July 30 after Nick Wayne turned on him.

During the August 20 episode of Collision, Killswitch officially replaced the injured Nick Wayne to team up with Kip Sabian against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

What should have been a memorable return for the masked wrestler turned into a frustration-filled affair.

Killswitch Struggles With Kip Sabian AEW Pay-Per-View

During their opening tag team match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, it was evident that Killswitch and Kip Sabian were not in tune.

Sabian, especially, was the culprit, as he constantly tagged himself into the match, resulting in growing frustrations for his partner.

In turn, Killswitch made his feelings known for Sabian by using him as a weapon during their match; on one occasion, he even delivered a brutal chop to Sabian while tagging out.

Meanwhile, AEW fans have banded together, showcasing support for the star formerly known as Luchasaurus.

In a video posted on social media, Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne accused Killswitch of not playing ball, resulting in their loss against Cope and Cage.

Sabian’s lack of trust in Killswitch may cause further dissension between them.

Whether or not the behemoth turns babyface anytime soon remains to be seen.

After their grueling tag team match, one of the wrestlers dropped a fresh hint at retirement.
