Anger In WWE At The Rock After Surprise Return
WrestleMania is shaping up for WWE and it looks like there will definitely be no place on the card for The Rock with many people unhappy at the megastar.
The Rock returned to the ring at WrestleMania 40 where he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The following night on Raw, The Rock confronted Rhodes again with The American Nightmare now holding the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Many expected The Rock and Rhodes to clash in the main event of WrestleMania 41 but that now looks like it won’t be happening. And it looks like The Final Boss won’t be in action on the show at all.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why he believes that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson won’t be on the card come WrestleMania 41 but is still expected to be at the show:
It does not appear, now we’re at the point when you look at this WrestleMania thing and you can see Gunther and Jey, Cena and Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens against Sami Zayn, probably something to do with Seth and Roman Reigns for sure, maybe Punk involved in that as well.
All the key guys are pretty much accounted for and there’s no Dwayne in the mix and there’s no talk of Dwayne or anything like that. I expect that Dwayne will be at WrestleMania in some form, doing something, but having a serious ten-minute match or twenty-minute match or forty-five-minute match like last year, that doesn’t appear to be happening. I suppose he could change his mind and work his way in.
People In WWE Unhappy With The Rock
Meltzer then explained that people knew at Bad Blood that The Rock wouldn’t be competing at WrestleMania and were unhappy when he made his shock appearance at the end of the show to confront Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes:
If you remember Bad Blood, he came out at the end of the show and I was pretty much told right after Bad Blood…someone brought up to me in a very negative term what he did. I go ‘Why negative? He’s gonna wrestle Cody at WrestleMania.’ And I was told ‘Guess what, he’s ain’t gonna wrestle Cody at WrestleMania. He ain’t gonna wrestle at WrestleMania.’
Brad Slater and Dwayne both told the company he ain’t gonna be able to do WrestleMania. So why did he do this run-in? The people who know this are not happy he ran in and stole the end of the show just to do that when those people who ended the show should have been the final thing. But Dwayne gets to do what Dwayne wants to do and everyone has to live with that.
