The Rock Stands Tall As The Bloodline Rules At WWE WrestleMania 40

The Rock

The Rock is back in WWE in a big way and at WrestleMania 40 he showed why there is perhaps no more dominant force than the Final Boss and the Tribal Chief.

The road to WrestleMania 40 became a convoluted one when The Rock returned to WWE apparently to finally go one-on-one with Roman Reigns. However, fans revolted against that idea with Cody Rhodes the people’s choice to go up against Reigns and finally finish his story by becoming WWE Champion.

The Rock was not happy after Cody Rhodes decided he’d quite like to finish his story as well and confirmed he was using his Royal Rumble win to challenge Reigns on the grandest stage of them all once again. The Great One slapped Rhodes in the face and confirmed his commitment to The Bloodline.

Cody Rhodes issued a one-on-one challenge to The Rock but the WWE icon had other ideas, instead proposing a huge tag team match with Rhodes teaming with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to face The Rock and Roman Reigns. If Rhodes and Rollins’ won then The Bloodline would be barred from ringside for Rhodes’ title shot against Reigns but if The Rock and Reigns won then that title match would be ‘Bloodline Rules.’ And that could spell disaster for The American Nightmare.

Since then The Rock has bloodied and beaten Cody Rhodes with vicious assaults and at WrestleMania 40, the four men finally settled things – for one night at least – in the ring.

The Rock Lays The Smack Down Once Again At WWE WrestleMania

In Philadelphia, the heated, personal blood feud turned into something like a pro wrestling match but things soon broke down with The Rock and Seth Rollins battling through the crowd while Reigns and Rhodes fought up to the entranceway.

Cody Rhodes had the match won before The Rock pulled out the referee to give a taste of what Bloodline Rules could mean in the WWE Universal Title match the next night. With The Rock threatening the referee with his job due to his role on TKO’s board, The Bloodline got away with almost anything anyway.

As the match reached a fever pitch, Roman Reigns aimed a spear at Seth Rollins but ended up dropping The Rock instead. Cody Rhodes took out The Rock with a Rock Bottom through the announce table before Rollins was speared through the ringside barricade by Roman Reigns.

The Rock stopped Rhodes from hitting a trio of Cross Rhodes on Reigns with a vicious belt shot before a Rock Bottom and a People’s Elbow were enough to put The American Nightmare away.

While the win for The Bloodline puts Cody Rhodes at a massive disadvantage in the main event of WrestleMania Sunday, there is also trouble ahead for Seth Rollins as he appeared to injure his knee before he has to put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre.
