AJ Styles Gives Vince McMahon Interesting New Nickname

Vince McMahon WWE

What do Lord Voldemort, Macbeth, and Vince McMahon have in common? Sometimes you just have to do anything but say their name.

Vince McMahon has been accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking in a bombshell lawsuit that has rocked WWE. As a result, McMahon was told to resign from his role as TKO Executive Chairman and one member of senior management has vowed Vince McMahon will never return to WWE.

With the company looking to distance itself from its former owner, it seems Vince McMahon’s name is not to be said on WWE television. CM Punk put that to the test as he dared Drew McIntyre to mention it on Raw but the Scottish star quickly declined to fall into that trap.

AJ Styles Won’t Name Vince McMahon

Speaking on Fanatics Live with ex-WWE star Tyler Breeze, AJ Styles went one step further as he commented on how he finally arrived in WWE and admitted Vince McMahon did not know who he was – except he didn’t use McMahon’s name instead referring to him as “the redacted name:”

I think I’m 37 when I come to WWE. The redacted name did not know me. He had no clue who I was. I think it was guys who had worked with me, probably with TNA and whatnot, that were able to say, ‘Let this guy come in third at the Rumble.’ Finally, he’s like, ‘Fine, let him.’

Then, the reaction happened, but he still didn’t believe it. He was like, ‘It’s a fluke.’ The next night, I had a match and it was okay but it wasn’t anything special. He’s like, ‘I have 100 guys who can do what you just did.’

What he was saying was true. I was trying to be something that is trying to be the babyface. I should have just been AJ Styles. He told me what he wanted and I was like, ‘I know that guy.’

AJ Styles had been a star in TNA for well over a decade as well as conquering Japan as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion before he joined WWE in 2016. Styles’ debut for the company was unusual as he competed for the WWE Championship in his first match which was that year’s Royal Rumble.
