AEW To Address In-Ring Status Of Saraya Soon
All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan has announced that Saraya’s in-ring status will soon be addressed, urging fans to tune into AEW programming to find out more information.
Formerly known as Paige in WWE, she sent the wrestling community into shock when she made her debut in New York City at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. The next week, she did a promo with several acts from the women’s division that she admitted was “a little rusty.”
Suffering a major neck injury during a WWE house show in 2017, Saraya hasn’t wrestled in the squared circle since. After her injury, then-Paige would play other roles with the company, including being a manager for WWE Superstars, as well as a stint as the General Manager of Smackdown. Her contract with World Wrestling Entertainment expired in July 2022.
During an interview with ComicBook’s Connor Casey, Tony Khan said that the wrestling status of Saraya will be addressed shortly.
“I will, at some point, for sure address that and I think we’ll find out more about what Saraya is going to do in AEW, but that’s not really something I could answer here. But I think keep watching Dynamite tonight, Rampage on Fridays and you’re going to find out more about what Saraya is going to do in AEW.”
Khan also went on to praise Paige-turned-Saraya and her two weeks so far in the company:
“It’s been tremendous. She’s awesome. She’s a huge star and she’s got a great mind for wrestling and she’s already had some really cool ideas and she also has such a great presence and her star power is going to be a real positive for us this year and going forward in future years.”
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported on Thursday that Dr. Michael Sampson has medically cleared Saraya for in-ring action.
