AEW Star’s Contract Ends A Lot Sooner Than Expected

Another AEW star could soon be a free agent.

At TNA Rebellion, Matt Hardy made a surprise to TNA Wrestling to close the show. In the main event, Moose successfully defended the World Championship with a win over Nic Nemeth, but he wasn’t given much time to celebrate. As The System appeared on the ramp, the lights went out and when they came back on, Hardy hit Moose with a Twist of Fate.

Hardy’s return to TNA came just a couple of weeks after he allowed his AEW contract to expire, becoming a free agent in the process. Interestingly, according to a new report from Fightful Select, his brother Jeff could also follow him out of the company.

When Jeff joined AEW his deal was structured so that it matched up with Matt. Although that obviously isn’t the case now as Jeff remains under contract with AEW, he won’t be for much longer.

The report notes that while it was originally believed Jeff Hardy’s contract had been extended into 2025 due to time out of the ring, as of late March that wasn’t the case. Instead, Jeff’s deal is expected to expire in “the Spring.”

Matt Hardy Now Free Agent Following AEW Exit

Despite his appearance at TNA Rebellion, Matt Hardy remains a free agent. Responding to a fan on social media, Matt Hardy denied he’s signed a deal with TNA, writing “I will appear when I want to appear.”

The surprise return came after Matt Hardy said he’d been in discussions with both WWE and AEW about his next move.
