AEW Snap Up More Big Name Free Agents

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan has bolstered the AEW roster in recent months and now the company’s tag team division has got one of the most successful teams of the modern era.

Will Ospreay signed his AEW deal at Full Gear in November 2023 but 2024 saw the big names continue to roll into AEW.

Kazuchika Okada debuted as part of the AEW roster at the beginning of March 2024, instantly joining up with The Young Bucks in The Elite. That was followed at Big Business when Mercedes Mone made her long-awaited debut for AEW announcing that The CEO was now All Elite.

MCMG Heading To AEW

Now Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam has reported that former TNA Tag Team Champions Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley – collectively known as The Motor City Machine Guns – are now off the market and heading to AEW.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley had their last match in TNA on March 23rd ahead of them becoming free agents. The report notes that while it might be some time before a deal is finalised and signed between the parties, the decision has been made and The Motor City Machine Guns will be heading to AEW.

The pair have held tag team championship gold in TNA as well as NJPW and Ring of Honor and will no doubt find themselves in the mix again for a title shot when they land in Tony Khan’s company.

The AEW World Tag Team Championship is currently vacant following Sting’s retirement. New champions will be crowned at Dynasty on April 21st when The Young Bucks clash with FTR.
