AEW Champion Threatens To End Kenny Omega’s Career

Kenny Omega cuts a promo on AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega has received a stern warning from an AEW Champion.

During the September 3 edition of Dynamite, the Canadian star was taken out by Kyle Fletcher and the members of the Don Callis Family, resulting in him being stretchered out from the arena.

Omega has yet to appear for an AEW taping since then.

Meanwhile, TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has been marking his territory, aiming to establish himself as the top star in the Florida promotion.

During an appearance on WMUL FM’s Rope Break, the Australian wrestler was asked about a dream match to defend his TNT title. He named Kenny Omega as his opponent, while stating the company no longer needs him.

I think there is a man who I recently dropped on his head through a table, who is someone I’ve already mentioned as one of my inspirations that I would like to think is going to come back looking for me when he’s healthy again. So Kenny Omega, I am waiting for you. You can do your best to take this championship from me, but it will not happen. I will put you on the shelf for good because AEW doesn’t need you anymore. It needs the ProtoStar. [H/T: Fightful]

Kyle Fletcher Discusses Sharing AEW Locker Room With Legends

On the podcast, Fletcher also revealed the joy of sharing the AEW locker room with people he idolized. He cited the example of Dusty Rhodes, who is currently out recurperating after undergoing surgery.

Dustin was one of the people I grew up watching. I’ve known who Dustin Rhodes is since I was a wrestling fan. So I think that’s one of the coolest parts of wrestling for me is now being able to not just share the ring, but share a locker room and work with these people backstage that I idolized growing up and Dustin, especially, I think there’s some stat where he’s wrestled in five different decades might be like the only person to ever do that.

So yeah to not only be in the ring, but to be able to beat someone like that for such a prestigious championship, it’s one of those things that you put on the resume, and I’m all about building my legacy and I want to become the best professional wrestler of all time. So I think things like that and, being the TNT champion, hopefully becoming the greatest TNT champion of all time, they all go into that, go into building that legacy that will last a lifetime. At AEW All Out, Kyle Fletcher unsuccessfully challenged “Hangman” Adam Page for the World Championship.
