A former WWE Champion has been forced to retire from wrestling.

Primo Colón is a three-time WWE Tag Team Champion, which he won twice with his brother Carlito and once with his cousin Epico.

He debuted on RAW in 2008 as the brother of Carlito, whom he hated. In his debut match, he defeated Charlie Haas in a singles match, but immediately after that, he was drafted to SmackDown.

Colón’s gimmick as the resentful brother was dropped, as he partnered with Carlito to produce enviable rivalries against the likes of The Legacy, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder, and The Miz & John Morrison.

The duo split after Carlito was released from his contract in May 2010.

He then formed the duo of Primo and Epico with his cousin Epico. In January 2012, they defeated Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

While Primo had a long stint in the Stamford promotion, it wasn’t without its share of controversies. In December 2019, he was suspended for 30 days for violating the company’s Wellness Policy.

He was ultimately released in 2020 when WWE released various talents citing budget cuts.

Ex-WWE Star Primo Colón Loses Career Vs. Career Match

Since departing from WWE, Primo Colón has been active in WWC (World Wrestling Council), which is his father’s promotion in Puerto Rico.

During a recent event in Bayamón, Primo challenged Ray Gonzalez in a career vs. career match, which he lost.

It currently remains unknown whether his retirement is part of a storyline or if he has actually called the curtains on his illustrious career.

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, the 42-year-old revealed that he was involved in an administrative role at WWC.

“I’ve been working with my father’s promotion. Like I said earlier, it’s been around for 50 years. I’ve been taking over the administrative part, and I’ve been helping to build the branding and I’ve been helping to put my fingers and my creative intuity into what’s happening right now in WWC.
