Carlito Departs WWE, Offers Humorous Comment In Response
Carlito has confirmed that his WWE run has come to an end.
It was announced on June 1st that R-Truth, one of the most beloved veterans in WWE, was informed that the company would not be renewing his contract.
At 53 years old, R-Truth is nearing the end of his career and wrestling at an age when many people have retired. The news of Truth’s WWE departure has saddened many wrestlers and fans worldwide.
That’s not all because PWInsider reported that Carlito of The Judgment Day has been told by WWE that his contract won’t be renewed either.
Carlito is 46 years old, and his first run began in the mid-2000s during the Ruthless Aggression Era, with his first feud coming against John Cena. Carlito was a former United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion In WWE. After six years on the main roster, he was released in 2010.
Away from WWE, Carlito continued wrestling on the independent circuit and is based in Puerto Rico, where his father, Carlos Colon, is a wrestling legend.
More than a decade later, at the 2021 Royal Rumble (the one held without fans due to COVID-19), Carlito participated in the match. At WWE Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, Carlito got a tremendous response when he helped Bad Bunny defeat Damian Priest in a memorable match.
Shortly after Backlash, Carlito signed with WWE in June 2023 and was put in The Judgment Day group. Carlito didn’t wrestle that often while he was in the group, but he did appear in many backstage segments and at ringside, supporting other wrestlers in the group. Carlito’s last WWE match was the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the Friday before WrestleMania.
Carlito Confirms End Of WWE Run While Making Jokes About It
In a post on X/Twitter, Carlito confirmed that his WWE contract is set to expire in two weeks and won’t be renewed, effectively resulting in his release. As usual, Carlito made jokes about it since he is known for having a unique sense of humor.
My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed. On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently “stealing money” from the company. I’ve had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money😳
All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho!
PS…I’ll reappear again in another 13yrs
Dios me los bendiga!

Carlito is staying busy clearly because he won WWC’s Puerto Rico Championship on Saturday night, just one day before the news came out about his WWE departure.
