24-Time Champion To Make WWE Return For John Cena’s Tournament?
The wrestling world is abuzz with a new tournament kicking off on the upcoming WWE RAW episode.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI, a John Cena vignette revealed the “Last Time is Now” tournament getting underway, with 16 participants competing to determine Cena’s final wrestling opponent.
Cena is scheduled to compete in his last match at the namesake event in Washington, DC, on December 13.
In the voiceover, the 17-time World Champion said that the participants could be from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, as well as non-WWE promotions.
The last part, especially, triggered a sense of nostalgia, with some fans speculating about the return of Chris Jericho or Edge.
Elsewhere, on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE personality Sam Roberts discussed the possibility of TNA star Jeff Hardy returning to the main roster for John Cena’s tournament.
Jeff Hardy would be an incredible person in this tournament. It’s not the way I have it going, but Jeff Hardy coming in from TNA to do this tournament would be amazing and something I would never be upset about. [15:14 onwards]
Two Matches In The Tournament Finalized For WWE RAW
Not only will the “Last Time is Now” tournament start on the November 10 taping of RAW, but John Cena himself will make his first appearance since WWE Crown Jewel.
At the Perth PLE, Cena defeated AJ Styles in a singles match that was critically acclaimed by many viewers.
On this week’s taping of the red brand, General Manager Adam Pearce picked four names from the classic tumbler backstage.
It was then announced that Rusev will take on Damian Priest in one bout and Sheamus will clash with Shinsuke Nakamura in another match.
Also on the show, Charlotte and Alexa Bliss will defend their tag team titles against The Kabuki Warriors, whereas Stephanie Vaquer will put the Women’s World Championship on the line against Raquel Rodriguez.
