WWE Officially Confirms John Morrison is Returning to the Company After Signing a Multi-Year Contract
The rumors are true. It was first reported on September 26th that John Morrison was returning to WWE. That report came from PWInsider, which we wrote about here and ever since then, fans have been wondering what was up with John Morrison. Is he still coming back to WWE? The answer is yes and it was confirmed on the WWE show “WWE Backstage” tonight.
During Ryan Satin’s “Satin Sheet” segment on WWE Backstage, it was confirmed that Morrison has signed a new contract to return to WWE. The terms of the deal are undisclosed, so we don’t know how many years Morrison has signed for or how much he might be making.
Here’s more from WWE.com on the story:
John Morrison is headed back to WWE’s squared circle after agreeing to a multi-year contract with WWE.
The Guru of Greatness is set to bring his Hollywood style back to WWE for the first time since 2011. A former Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion, Morrison is still fondly remembered by the WWE Universe for his unique and exciting in-ring style, which was influenced by his extensive background in parkour.
It is not known when Morrison will appear on WWE TV or whether it will be on Raw, Smackdown or NXT.
Morrison tweeted about this evening.
Confirmed ✅ I have signed with @WWE – I’ve never been as good at anything as I am at wrestling & I can’t wait to stand again in a #WWE ring opposite the most talented people in the business‼️

Morrison started in WWE in 2002 after winning Tough Enough season 3 and worked for WWE full time until 2011 when his contract expired and he chose to leave. His first name in WWE was Johnny Nitro and then he became John Morrison. During his WWE career, Morrison won the Intercontinental Title three times, he’s a 5-time Tag Team Champion and he was the ECW Champion. While he was away from WWE, he wrestled under different names (including his real name John Hennigan) for promotions like AAA, Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling and independent wrestling shows around the world. Morrison’s marrie to wrestler Taya Valkyrie, who works for Impact Wrestling.
Morrison turned 40 years old in October. Welcome back, John.
Analysis: I’m glad it’s confirmed. I’m excited to see him back in a WWE ring with fresh matchups and I’m sure he’ll get a pretty decent push no matter what show he is on.
