WWE News: Tegan Nox Suffers Torn ACL Injury, Third Major Knee Injury, Will Miss Several Months After Surgery

The injury bug strikes again. Unfortunately, the rumors of Tegan Nox suffering a significant knee injury are true. WWE reported today via social media that Nox has suffered a torn ACL, which means a ligament tore in her knee and she’ll have surgery soon if she hasn’t had it already. The storyline used was that Candice LeRae attacked Nox in the backstage area before the women’s battle royal last week (which LeRae won) and Nox was unable to compete. Most likely, Nox suffered the injury prior to that at some point.

Triple H confirmed on a WWE conference call today that Nox has already had surgery on her knee. Thanks to Inside the Ropes for that.

As you can see there, no specific timeline has been given for a return. However, most athletes come back from a torn ACL anywhere from 7 to 10 months, so we probably won’t see her in the ring again until next spring at best.

This is the third significant knee injury Nox has suffered in her WWE career. In 2017, she was going to be in the Mae Young Classic, but she suffered a torn ACL before the tapings. She returned from that injury in April 2018. In August 2018, she suffered a torn ACL, MCL, lateral collateral ligament, meniscus, and patellar dislocation. She returned to the ring in June 2019, did that big angle at WarGames last November when Dakota Kai turned on her and Nox has had a great 2020 so far. Now she’s on the shelf again.

Nox has been part of the WWE NXT brand during her career, but she also appeared in this year’s Royal Rumble as well.

Nox is 25 years old and will turn 26 in December, so she does have a lot of good years ahead of her. Let’s just hope she never has to deal with another major injury after this one.

Back in July, Nox talked about coming out as a bisexual in an interview with Pink News:

“I’ve been out to friends and family for a while, they all know that it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female to me, if you make me laugh, make me happy, I’m all for it.”

“I’ve had people come up to me at work, congratulating me. I’ve had people message me, people that I knew beforehand, people that I don’t know. So many people have messaged me saying that because I came out, they felt the confidence to come out too. Which is such a big deal for me, because I want to use my platform to be able to help people like that.”

She spoke about it more in an interview with Newsweek:

“My life has always been a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ situation, but I felt like it was the right time, especially when you’ve found the right one you’re in love with. It was the right time to do that. The reaction has been great. There are a few people who obviously don’t agree with that, but 99 percent of the reactions have been positive. I’ve got texts coming through from so many colleagues and friends. It was nice. It’s great to see that there are so many nice people in the world.”

Good for her being so happy and positive in her life. I just hate that she has to deal with another knee injury.

TJR Thoughts: I remember the great videos WWE produced about Tegan’s comeback. They were great and very honest. Tegan has really impressed me this year in several matches. If you read my WWE NXT reviews regularly then you know that. I especially liked her NXT Women’s Title match against Io Shirai a few months ago. Tegan is a lifelong wrestling fan that is living her dream. I wish her all the best in her recovery and look forward to reviewing her matches again.
