WWE News: AOP (Akam and Rezar) Have Been Released
It was announced on Friday afternoon that World Wrestling Entertainment has released the AOP tag team of Akam and Rezar. AOP was the shortened name for when they were called Authors of Pain. Here’s the WWE statement on their website:
WWE has come to terms on the release of Akam and Rezar (AOP). We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
The team won the NXT Tag Team Titles and the Raw Tag Team TItles in their careers. They were managed by Paul Ellering in their NXT run, they were managed by Drake Maverick on Raw and they also had an alliance with Seth Rollins and Murphy as well.
Akam (real name Sunny Dhinsa) is 27 years old and signed with WWE in October 2014. Prior to signing with WWE, he was a standout college wrestler.
Rezar (real name Gzim Selmani) is 26 years old in May 2015. He has a background in Mixed Martial Arts.
The time has been on the sidelines since March when Rezar suffered a torn biceps. It’s possible that he was ready to return soon, but WWE has chosen to release the team.
No specific reason has been given as to why the team has been released.
TJR Thoughts: I liked AOP in terms of their look and during the NXT run, they were capable of having good matches. These are two young guys in their mid-20s with a bright future in pro wrestling if they keep at it. Good luck to them.
