WWE Announces “NXT Takeover In Your House” Event to Take Place Sunday, June 7 on WWE Network

It was announced during tonight’s edition of WWE NXT on USA Network that the NXT Takeover event is going to take place on June 7. Not only that, but the name for the Takeover is going to be In Your House.

Twenty-five years after WWE first brought In Your House to your living rooms, it’s coming back, and this time under the NXT banner.

As announced by Triple H and Shawn Michaels on NXT, NXT TakeOver: In Your House will take place at Full Sail University Sunday, June 7, and stream live on the award-winning WWE Network.

The first In Your House took place on May 14, 1995, beginning a new WWE pay-per-view tradition. What will be in store when the black-and-gold brand puts its own spin on the iconic event?

The WWE Backlash event takes place on Sunday, June 14, so there will be back to back WWE Network specials (or pay-per-views) on the first two Sundays in June.

It’s cool to see that In Your House logo again. If you’re not familiar with it, there were some WWE PPV events beginning in May 1995 that had the “In Your House” name and then there was a theme to the show like Beware of Dog when the British Bulldog was in a main event, Badd Blood for Undertaker vs. Michaels Hell in a Cell, Mind Games featuring a classic between Michaels and Mankind in the main event and Canadian Stampede in July 1997 was the best of them all and then they went away. The last In Your House event was in February 1999 was called St. Valentine’s Day Massacre because it took place on Valentine’s Day with Steve Austin facing Vince McMahon in a steel cage in Vince’s first match.

The In Your House events ran for two hours instead of the usual three hours for the first three years until WWE expanded to at least three hours for every PPV starting with the September 1997 In Your House. Those In Your House events were also cheaper than the regular PPV events. The very first In Your House event in May 1995 also featured WWE giving away an actual house. A kid won it too, so that was memorable.

I like it as a nod to some WWE history because we’re in this era of watching these WWE shows with no fans in the building, so the only place for you to watch is…in your house.
