Mamdani is also the city’s first Muslim mayor, as he takes over from Eric Adams and will assume office on January 1, 2026.

The son of a Ugandan academic and Indian filmmaker, the 34-year-old is also believed to be a wrestling fan.

That said, readers may be curious about his preference for a promotion, considering the likes of WWE, AEW, and TNA are at the forefront.

Amid Mamdani’s NYC mayoral election victory, a video has surfaced online, showing him attending the 2021 AEW Grand Slam pay-per-view, where Kenny Omega fought Bryan Danielson.

Elsewhere, his tweet exchanges with WWE superstar Sami Zayn have also emerged, with Zayn initiating the conversation, followed by Mamdani’s reply.

So, it is fair to assume that Zohran Mamdani is neither a WWE nor an AEW guy, but just someone who is open to all wrestling communities.

Ex-WWE Star Believes Donald Trump Will Attend John Cena’s Final Match

John Cena is scheduled to compete in his final wrestling match at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13.

The who’s who of wrestling and politics are expected to attend the show, with some reports even speculating about the United States President Donald Trump being in attendance.

Meanwhile, a former WWE star is certain that Trump will be at the event in Washington, DC.

Tyrus, who is known for his tenure in the Stamford promotion as Brodus Clay, said:

Oh, the president the 1000%… he says he’s going, he’s going, it’s indeed, yeah, and that’s not by no mistake. He might even be in the finish. But, you know, I definitely think that if the President says he’s gonna be there, he’s gonna be there because he’s a fan. He loves it.
