WWE’s 2025 Labeled A “Disaster” For Both Business And Creative
WWE is receiving flak for struggling from a business and creative standpoint in 2025.
Ever since the Stamford promotion merged with UFC to form the TKO Group in September 2023, it has witnessed several highs.
Even prior to the business partnership, the Triple H-led company was praised for its creative storytelling, which further generated incredible business as far as finances went.
However, 2025 has not been the same. According to several viewers and critics, the storylines have taken a hit.
Furthermore, there are rumors about an internal power struggle between the members of the TKO board, one of whom is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Outside the wrestling ring, the ticket prices have skyrocketed and the recent announcement about WrestleMania 43 being held in Saudi Arabia has not sat well with many wrestling fans.
A former WWE star evaluated the situation on their podcast recently.
While hosting a recent episode of The Stevie Richards Show podcast, Stevie Richards labeled the promotion’s operation a “disaster” in terms of creative and business angles.
2022 was great. 2023, even ’24…25 has been kind of a disaster from a business and a creative standpoint. Honeymoon period’s over. But I would still challenge the fact that what changed—is it a TKO-Rock thing butting heads with Triple H and now things seemingly end, seemingly pivot, pivot back? How much, what percentage of blame should be on Hunter and what percentage of blame should be on The Rock and TKO? We have obviously an internal power struggle. [14:52 onwards]
