WWE Urged To Have Fast-Rising Star End John Cena’s Career

John Cena Last Time Is Now

John Cena will wrap up his two-decade-long career on December 13 this year.

WWE has set up a tournament to decide who’ll be the worthy star to face The Never Seen 17 in his final match in WWE.

On the November 17 edition of Monday Night RAW, the crowd at Madison Square Garden saw Je’Von Evans, an up-and-coming talent who is making waves in NXT, take on a returning Gunther in the first round of the tournament battle.

Aiden English Wanted To See Je’Von Evans Wrestle John Cena In His Last Match

Former WWE star Aiden English had high hopes for Je’Von. Speaking on the recent edition of the REBOOKED Wrestling podcast, he vouched for Evans to win the match against Gunther and the tournament to become John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December.

“Give me Je’Von Evans going all the way. He is on a roll. He’s on a heater. They love him. What a making someone moment for John. Give him the IC title. Huge crowning moment.

Everybody else has done big things, had Mania moments, World titles, and stuff. What if you just came out of nowhere with this kid who’s already been on such a roll and delivered every step of the way? I don’t know that they’ll do it.” (From 13:18)

John Cena is known for putting over younger talents, and English suggested who’d be better than Evans for the job. However, all dreams were flushed down the drain when Gunther beat Evans to advance to the next round.

On the same night, Dolph Ziggler also made his return to WWE as a mystery opponent to compete against Solo Sikoa in the John Cena tournament. Unfortunately, The Show Off was also met with disappointment as The Street Champion crushed his dream to face Cena.

The “Last Time in Now” Tournament kicked off on RAW last week. Rusev and Sheamus were the first ones to punch their tickets to the next round. Then, on last week’s SmackDown, Jey Uso and LA Knight fought off their opponents to advance in the tournament.
