Ex-WWE Champion Undergoes Surgery After Recent Release

WWE released Ridge Holland on November 5, 2025.

The former NXT Tag Team Champion suffered a Lisfranc injury during a match in September 2024, while wrestling Moose at a TNA event.

He landed awkwardly on his left leg, which caused him to sustain the injury that required surgery, including an artificial disc replacement from C5 to C7.

His injury kept him out of action for an extended period, with recovery expected to last until around May 2026.

​His contract was set to expire on November 14, 2025, but WWE decided not to renew it, citing his online comments and social media activity as breaches of company policies.

Ridge Holland expressed frustration, feeling abandoned and “hung out to dry” after his injury and release.

Fortunately for him, WWE announced that cover his neck surgery expenses, despite the early release and controversy surrounding his departure.

He recently logged onto his Instagram account to share that his surgery went successfully. Check out his post below.

He said, “Surgery went well. C5 to C7 artificial disc replacement. Thank you to the amazing care at @hspecialsurgery Manhattan. And thanking for all the messages of support. I’ll get back to you all over the next few days. #the rebuild”

Ridge Holland Knew WWE Was Letting Him Go

Ridge Holland’s release was something that the fans didn’t expect.

But according to the star himself, he had sensed that WWE was trying to get rid of him when they put him on the developmental platform, EVOLVE.

Ridge Holland said on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast:

I kind of knew the writing was on the wall when I got taken off TV and put on EVOLVE. I’m not silly. I can read the room. So there’s a stress that comes with that… [H/T: Fightful]
