WWE & UFC Wanted By Major US City In $18 Million Deal
WWE and UFC are wanted properties and now one major US city is looking for $18 million to lure TKO’s major events there.
When Endeavor completed its takeover of WWE in 2023, the sports entertainment giant was brought under the TKO umbrella alongside UFC. Such is WWE’s status that the company is now open to bidding for shows which has seen it go around the world for major events in recent years. This is in addition to WWE’s bumper deal with Saudi Arabia that nets the company $50 million per show.
Now the Orlando Business Journal has reported that the Greater Orlando Sports Commission has had its request for an $18 million grant over a multi-year period in tourist development tax funds advanced by the Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee. The request for the money will then go before the county.
Orlando Targeting WWE WrestleMania 47
The events Orlando would look to attract to the city are:
- In 2026: Either WWE’s Survivor Series in November or Saturday Night’s Main Event in December at Kia Center.
- In 2027: a pay-per-view with UFC in August or September at Kia Center.
- In 2028: WWE’s Royal Rumble at Camping World Stadium in February 2028.
- In 2031: Host WWE’s WrestleMania in mid to late April, with Camping World Stadium serving as the main venue and Kia Center also hosting events during WrestleMania week.
It is noted that the events would be estimated to have an economic impact of $120 million in the area with over 300,000 fans expected to attend.
Orlando has previously held WrestleMania in front of fans twice with the last of those events coming in 2017 when Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker. The city also hosted WrestleMania 36 in front of no fans at the WWE Performance Center.
