Paul “Triple H” Levesque married Stephanie McMahon in 2003.

Before that, they had a kayfabe wedding on November 29, 1999.

At the time, HHH was a top heel in WWE and feuding with Vince McMahon. Stephanie was in a relationship with Test.

The November 29 episode involved a wedding ceremony between the couple, before it was interrupted by Triple H.

In doing so, he played a video that showed him in a car driving around Las Vegas with a passed-out Stephanie in the passenger seat.

He then drives up to the Little White Chapel, where HHH imitates Stephanie’s “I Do” in front of the minister, leading to their wedding becoming ‘official.’

He then added salt to the McMahon family’s wounds by claiming they consummated their wedding multiple times.

While the wedding was a sham and part of the storyline, Stephanie McMahon ultimately aligned with ‘The Game,’ thus kicking off the McMahon-Helmsley Era.

Triple H-Stephanie McMahon’s Kayfabe Wedding Was Invalid

WWE ran with the Triple H-Stephanie McMahon wedding storyline, continuing his feud with Vince McMahon.

Former talent of the Stamford promotion, David Otunga, who is also a legal professional, recently broke down the 1999 wedding segment on his YouTube channel, verifying that their wedding was invalid.

A wedding ceremony is not a legally binding marriage. That’s just a party, basically. You’re legally married once you fill out a marriage certificate at the court house and it’s signed. That’s actually a contract. So, you have to get your marriage license contract first and sign it.

And at that moment, once that’s completed, you’re married. Then, you can have a wedding ceremony if you like, or if you don’t. Some people don’t. I know people who’ve just gone to the court house and just gotten their marriage license and that’s it, they’re married.

So, if you have a wedding ceremony but you don’t have that license, that piece of paper, your marriage is not valid. So again, that means that your marriage license is extremely important because in order for you to be legally married, that contract has to be valid. So, right off, the fact that Triple H forged the marriage documents, forged Stephanie’s signature, spoke for Stephanie, that’s fraudulent. This invalidates it right on the face. [2:04 onwards]
