A former WWE superstar could be headed to TNA Wrestling when it’s legally allowed to happen.

It was reported on February 7th that WWE had released multiple superstars. It was a group that included Cedric Alexander, Paul Ellering, Akam, Rezar, and Blair Davenport.

Sonya Deville was told that her contract would not be renewed after ten years with the company. That news surprised Deville, who claimed that WWE told her they would be bringing her back just days before.

Elektra Lopez was also released by WWE on February 7th even though she appeared on SmackDown that night in a backstage segment. Lopez was part of the Legado Del Fantasma group with Santos Escobar, Angel & Humberto.

Since her release, Lopez has claimed that she is going to be very busy over the next 90 days, which is how long her non-compete clause is. That’s the standard number of days when WWE releases somebody from the main roster.

TNA Showing Interest In Signing Elektra Lopez

Elektra Lopez signed with WWE in early 2021, spent a few years in NXT, and joined Santos Escobar on the main roster in early 2024 just like she was aligned with him in NXT. Even though Lopez was on SmackDown, she only wrestled twice in 2024 and was used mostly as a manager.

It has been reported by Lucha Libre Online that Lopez was at the TNA tapings last Friday, February 20th in Orlando, which is where NXT calls home as well.

Meanwhile, Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass reporter Chris Featherstone reports that TNA Wrestling has a strong interest in signing Lopez. There are already discussions underway for Lopez to debut there when her non-compete clause expires in 90 days, which would be in early May.

There are multiple former WWE women who are thriving in TNA like Ash By Elegance (former Dana Brooke in WWE) and Léi Yǐng Lee, who was Xia Li in WWE. The men’s division is loaded with former WWE stars as well.
