WWE Wants Sylvester Stallone For WrestleMania 40

Sylvester Stallone

They already have The Rock, now WWE wants Rocky for WrestleMania 40.

Over its almost 40-year history, WrestleMania has featured a plethora of Hollywood stars. These have ranged from the likes of Pamela Anderson and Mr T, to Burt Reynolds and Micky Rourke. Now, WWE seemingly has its eye on another megastar to grace the Grandest Stage Of them All, Sylvester Stallone.

According to WrestleVotes, there is an interest in collaborating with Stallone due to his association with the event’s host city of Philadelphia. The star rose to fame through the Rocky franchise, which heavily features the city as the titular character’s hometown.

Stallone also has connections to WWE, having been the man to induct Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame.

“Sources within WWE indicate there is interest in collaborating with Sylvester Stallone for WrestleMania in some form. While any communication status is unclear, I’m told there’s hope for it. Whether it ultimately ends up happening or not is to be determined. Stallone, born in NYC, gained fame through the iconic Rocky films, deeply associated with Philadelphia.

“Additionally, Stallone is no stranger to the WWE world, having inducted Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.”

The Rock Drops WrestleMania 40 hint on WWE SmackDown

WWE’s own Rock, Dwayne Johnson, has been heavily involved in the build to WrestleMania 40. While initially it looked like The Great One would finally face his cousin, Roman Reigns, at the event, plans have changed substantially and The Rock has joined The Bloodline instead.

It now appears that we will see Rock team with Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins during the event, although all might not be as it seems. On the February 16th edition of SmackDown, The People’s Champ cut a promo blasting the audience and Rhodes. However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted several hints that The Rock could already be planning to turn on The Bloodline.
