WWE A Very Stressful Environment Under Vince McMahon Says Randy Orton
Randy Orton has explained how Vince McMahon made WWE a stressful place to work.
Randy Orton returned to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023 after serious back surgery left him out of action for 18 months. While The Viper was away from the ring, the entire landscape of WWE changed as scandal forced Vince McMahon to step back from the day-to-day running of WWE before ultimately resigning in the wake of a lawsuit launched against him by Janel Grant.
Since McMahon’s departure, Triple H was put in charge of the company’s creative direction, and according to Orton, The Game has changed things for the better.
During an appearance on Adam’s Apple, Orton explained that just knowing the creative plan months in advance has led to a far better environment than under McMahon.
“With Nick Khan, Triple H, and Bruce Prichard, so many things have changed from a creative standpoint. They’re thinking months and months and months in advance.
“Before, we were kind of flying by the seat of our pants. Creative was changed minutes before we went live each week. I don’t mean sometimes. I mean, each week creative was changed. It’d be 05:00 p.m. You’d be on the East Coast going live in two or three hours, and you wouldn’t know what you were doing, you know, and that’s a very stressful environment, and you’re not going to have the best product in the world if you’re doing it like that every week.
“So just purely from a creative standpoint, you’re able to let it marinate and think about, okay, how am I gonna do this? Or how can I make this better? Or maybe there are tweaks, but you don’t do it ten minutes before you go live.”
Randy Orton Not Planning To Move To The Undertaker’s WWE Schedule
During the same interview, Randy Orton claimed he has no plans to move to “the old Undertaker of Shawn Michaels schedule”. The star says that under the new regime, he has the “perfect environment to thrive” as, while he plans to stay on the road every week of the year, he knows he can take time off to recover if the situation calls for it.
