WWE Stars Released After Asking To Leave

A WWE NXT tag team asked for and was granted their release after competing in a match at NXT Stand & Deliver.

This past Saturday at NXT Stand & Deliver, the pre-show match featured an eight-person tag team match. It was the Chase U group consisting of Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail teaming up with Tyler Bate against Schism’s Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava, who is The Rock’s daughter.

During the match, Hudson teased leaving Chase U and joining Schism, but he ultimately chose to stay with Chase U, which led to the popular Chase U group getting the win.

Apparently, that was enough of WWE NXT for Reid and Fowler because the tag team asked for their release from WWE.

In an update, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has revealed that WWE granted Fowler & Reid their release.

Prior to their run with Schism, Fowler was known as Zack Gibson and Reid was called James Drake. The duo was known as the Grizzled Young Veterans that were part of the NXT UK brand before they were moved to NXT. The Grizzled Young Veterans were one-time NXT UK Tag Team Champions as well.

It was in July 2022 when WWE decided to rebrand the team as The Dyad with the names Reid & Fowler as part of the Schism group.

During their time as Fowler & Reid, the duo wasn’t used that often in NXT and barely had any significant wins on the brand. That makes it easy to understand why they would ask for their release.

There will likely be a non-compete clause accompanied by the releases of Fowler and Reid. Normally for NXT talent they have 30-day no-compete clauses.
