WWE Star’s Gimmick Ruined By Pandemic
One WWE star has claimed that the pandemic ruined the momentum that their obnoxious character had built as crowds had to watch the action from home.
The ThunderDome era of WWE was no doubt a feat of technological achievement but it’s a time that no fan wants to go back to as crowds had to stay at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That lack of live crowds is what Baron Corbin believes ultimately led to his King Corbin character flopping as he needed their reactions to help highlight just how over the top he was, something he explained while speaking to Sports Illustrated:
I think the pandemic killed the King because that was one of those things that needed to be in front of people. It was all about the presentation from being carried to the ring to the obnoxious giant 8,000 lbs. fur coat, and the crown, and all those things.
That’s something that needs to be presented to a live audience because it lives better that way, where it irritates people. When I’m looking down on them and waving at them from my giant throne that I’m being carried on, it just has more of an effect that way.
Baron Corbin Leaving WWE
The former US Champion became King Corbin after he won the King of the Ring tournament in 2019 ending his time as Constable Corbin on Raw.
Baron Corbin’s WWE career is effectively over as the company informed him they would not be renewing his contract with the belief being that his current deal runs out at the end of the year.
