WWE Star’s Future In Doubt After 4-Month Absence
There has been a massive question mark on the future of a WWE star due to their prolonged absence.
Tony D’Angelo’s last match was on July 15, where he won a triple threat match against Luca Crusifino and Channing Lorenzo.
His last TV appearance came a couple of weeks after, on July 29, where he dropped his “Don” persona before being confronted by a shadowy figure.
Since then, his whereabouts have been unknown. Media reports suggested that he had requested some time off, although the duration of the leave was not specified.
As he continues to remain absent from WWE, fans have begun inquiring about his future with the promotion.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful provided an update while speaking on a post-RAW episode on YouTube.
He claimed that D’Angelo is still signed with the company, but has not reported to the Performance Center of late. It is also possible that he is awaiting creative direction, considering he has now dropped his “Don” persona.
Well, when I asked, I heard he hasn’t been at the PC lately, or hasn’t been seen by everybody else at the PC. Maybe they’re waiting for creative stuff. He’s still signed to WWE — that much I can confirm — but I haven’t heard a lot of details about where he is other than not at the PC when I’ve asked. [H/T: Ringside News]
Absent Star To Return On Next Week’s WWE RAW
Gunther has been away from WWE taping since his World Heavyweight Championship loss to CM Punk at SummerSlam.
During the match, The Ring General was busted open and bleeding through the nose, after which he relinquished any advantage that he had and went on to lose.
It was later reported that he was suffering from a legitimate nasal issue and required surgery.
The 38-year-old will make his much-awaited return to WWE on next week’s RAW to compete in John Cena’s “Last Time is Now” tournament. NXT’s Je’Von Evans was drawn as his opponent.
