Top WWE Star Won’t Make On-Screen Appearances Post-Retirement
A former WWE World Champion is looking to life after their run in the ring.
For decades, several veteran wrestlers have moved into on-screen roles when they retire, with the likes of Jerry Lawler, Mick Foley, Jesse Ventura, Taz, and more all finding a second career once they hung up their boots.
However, one of WWE’s biggest names won’t be following their example.
During an interview with WFAN, Seth Rollins was asked about taking up a position at the commentary table once his in-ring career is over. In response, the star quickly shot the idea down, suggesting that he wants to move into a role away from the cameras when he wraps things up.
“No, not so much. I think I’m more of a behind the scenes guy when it’s time to finish up. I’d like to be on the other side of it. I don’t want to be a character in front of it, anymore. Once I’m done in the ring, let me go back and help the business, help the young guys and girls, something like that. Maybe something in the creative department, we’ll see.”
Seth Rollins Holds Talks On Backstage WWE Role
Speaking elsewhere, Seth Rollins revealed that he’d already begun to discuss a post-retirement role with WWE. The star reiterated that he’s got no desire to hang up his boots in the near future, but he’s started to look at what life will be like when he does.
Rollins added that he’s convinced he’s “in his prime” and focused on helping out in the ring as much as he can.
The former World Champion looks set for a WrestleMania showdown with Roman Reigns after being attacked by The Tribal Chief on Raw. However, his issues with CM Punk also appear far from resolved, adding to speculation that the trio could be involved in a Triple Threat Match.
Reigns and Punk are both scheduled to appear on the March 21 edition of SmackDown.
