One WWE star has been confirmed for a return to the ring after a long layoff.

Superstar Spectacle will take place on Friday, September 8th in the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India. This will be the first time the company has held an event in India since December 2017 when they held a live supershow in Delhi which was headlined by Triple H getting the best of the Modern Day Maharajah.

WWE was scheduled to return to the country in January 2021, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they instead held an India-themed Superstar Spectacle in the Thunderdome to mark the country’s Republic Day. That show was Drew McIntyre and Indus Sher defeating Jinder Mahal and The Bollywood Boyz.

Now on social media, the promotion has confirmed the long-awaited return of Shanky to a wrestling ring at the event. Although no match or opponent has yet been given for the star.

Shanky last appeared in a wrestling ring back in July 2022 where he was aligned with Jinder Mahal. However, Shanky’s fun-loving side never sat well with Mahal and the pair ended up separating on-screen.

What is the card for WWE Superstar Spectacle?

John Cena will be back in action at Superstar Spectacle as he teams with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins against Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. Gold will be on the line as well as The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against Indus Sher.

Natalya has previously confirmed that she will be challenging Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley on the show following Ripley’s successful title defence at Payback.
