WWE Star Still Shaking After Historic Title Win
A brand new champion now holds gold in WWE after the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion was crowned at Battleground.
At NXT Stand & Deliver, the general manager of the brand Ava revealed the creation of the NXT Women’s North American Championship. A combine took place with the top 12 female stars of the brand moving onto qualifying matches with six moving on to a huge ladder match at Battleground to crown the first champion.
At NXT Battleground Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Michin, and Kelani Jordan did battle for the gold and in the end, it was Jordan who emerged with the title.
Kelani Jordan Speechless After Huge WWE Title Win
Speaking in an interview after the show, Kelani Jordan explained just what the win meant to her and says all of her opponents were also part of making history:
Honestly, I’m speechless. I’m still shaking because I know when I was grabbing the title, how much this match means to every single one of us girls who were in that match. I may be the one walking away with the title, but we all made history tonight. So honestly, I don’t really have words to express it. I’m in awe. I can’t believe it. I’m still shaking, I’m on cloud nine. But it feels good to be a champion.
NXT Battleground was a good night for the reigning champions on the brand. No other titles changed hands on the show with TNA’s Jordynne Grace failing to dethrone Roxanne Perez as NXT Women’s Champion while WWE newcomer Ethan Page lost in his match for the NXT Title against Trick Williams.
