WWE Star Feels Incredible After First Night On SmackDown
A WWE performer made their SmackDown debut and has discussed what that moment meant for them.
It was in April 2019 when Alicia Taylor debuted on the WWE NXT brand as a ring announcer. Taylor is also a talented drummer who caught WWE’s eye because she’s a wrestling fan who happens to be really good at doing in-ring introductions.
After five years in NXT, WWE decided to bring up Taylor to the main roster and place her on Smackdown. In a corresponding move, Mike Rome will be going back to NXT. During his WWE career, Rome has been the ring announcer on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, so he’s going back to where he started.
Taylor did her final NXT show this past Tuesday and then she made the trip to Wilkes-Barre, PA for Smackdown as the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments kicked off.
While speaking to the WWE Digital team after the show, Taylor was asked about her debut on Smackdown.
“Incredible. I’m glad that I got through one of them. [Laughs] I couldn’t tell if it was my caffeine intake or anxiety or what it was, but before the show, I was like, ah, let’s do it. Let’s go. Let’s f’n go. [Laughs].”
Alicia Taylor Reflects On WWE NXT Farewell
The interview continued with Taylor looking back on her time with the NXT brand and how the people there tried to make her cry on her way out of the brand.
“The other night [at] NXT, my last NXT, they tried to make me cry. I’m a gangster, okay, I can’t be crying. I’m not gonna lie, they brought a little tear. It was special. It was really special.”
“NXT is such a special place, and like you said, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. I’ve always been really close with Triple H and both of them. Shawn, he’s done a great job of taking over NXT and helping it grow to what it is today. It’s just all really special.”
Taylor also got to do a backstage photo with her WWE boss Triple H, who loves to pose for photos with talent.
