WWE Star Makes Shock Return Months Before First Thought
One WWE star apparently faced up to a year out of action but now, after only four months, they’re back.
Wes Lee was set to be part of the NXT North American Championship match at Deadline in 2023 where he’d challenge Dominik Mysterio for the gold but that bout had to be scrapped.
Back in December, Lee appeared on NXT, walking to the ring with a crutch before announcing that he was out of action with a back injury and required surgery. Vic Joseph on commentary noted that Wes Lee is expected to be out for 8-12 months as a result.
Wes Lee had only returned to NXT television at the end of October 2023 following several weeks away after walking out of the brand following a loss to Ilja Dragunov.
But now that 8-12 months timeline has been smashed as Wes Lee returned to NXT television to confront a current champion on the brand.
Wes Lee Eyes Up WWE Gold Once Again
On the second night of NXT Spring Breakin’ NXT North American Champion Oba Femi retained his title with a huge win over Ivar. After Femi’s match, Wes Lee entered through the crowd and got in the ring, confronting Femi as the two stars exchanged words.

Later in the night, Wes Lee was seen again as Josh Briggs and Ivar each made their case to challenge for Oba Femi’s gold again. Lee told the pair that he wanted his title back as the field gets ever more crowded for the North American Title.
