41-Year-Old WWE Star Reportedly Set For RAW Comeback

Santos Escobar officially left WWE on October 7, 2025, after his contract expired and both sides couldn’t agree on a new deal.

The main reason behind his exit was frustration with how he was booked. Escobar wasn’t happy being used as a manager more than a wrestler and felt he wasn’t getting enough spotlight or big matches, especially after strong runs in NXT and with Legado Del Fantasma. The Stamford-based promotion tried to keep him with bigger salary offers, but Escobar wanted better creative direction and decided to walk away instead.

Escobar’s last singles match in the Stamford-based promotion was against Rey Fenix during the May 2, 2025, episode of SmackDown. After that, he was only used in short segments and lost in a six-man tag at AAA x WWE: Worlds Collide in June. He then disappeared from TV, fueling rumors of a possible move to AEW or elsewhere.

Santos Escobar Scheduled For WWE RAW In Anaheim, California

For a short while, Escobar was technically a free agent, and reports said WWE had moved him to their alumni section online. Social media posts teased the move, and fans genuinely thought he was done with the Stamford-based promotion for good. But WWE management wasn’t ready to let Escobar go.

Within 48 hours, they came back with a much bigger contract and direct assurances of better creative plans, so Escobar reversed course and re-signed with the company. The new deal locked him in right before a rumored AAA Mega Championship win, which got canceled because of the re-signing.

According to PWInsider, the Stamford-based promotion is now planning a big return for Escobar on Raw, with reports stating he’ll be at Monday Night Raw in Anaheim, California, on October 27, 2025. Fans expect him to kick off a fresh chapter, possibly a singles push, but nothing’s been confirmed yet.
