WWE Star Says Release Was “A Hard Pill To Swallow”

WWE Andre Battle Royal 2023

Braun Strowman has admitted that he enjoyed his spell away from WWE but he hated being away from the company and says his shock release was a “hard pill to swallow” at the time.

Braun Strowman burst onto the WWE main roster back in 2015 as part of The Wyatt Family but he soon spun out into a singles star spending much of his career at the top of the card.

However, amid ongoing roster cuts in the company, Strowman was released from his WWE deal in June 2021 to the surprise of many. When Triple H took over the running of the company he began bringing back many former stars and Strowman returned to the company in September 2022.

Speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Braun Strowman admitted that while he enjoyed pursuing other things outside the company, he hated being gone from WWE:

We talked a couple of times, and I enjoyed my time away. As much as I did, at first, it was a hard pill to swallow, but it was something I realized I needed because, at the time, I was just mentally going crazy, not just with WWE but with everything in life.

“So, it was an opportunity to take a step back and truly realize how amazing it is to work here and how truly blessed my career has been. In the short amount of time of my first stint here, you name it, and I did it; Money in the Bank, Universal Champion, Tag Team, Andre, Intercontinental, whatever PPV I main evented, whatever building I sold out. So having that opportunity to take a step back and go, ‘Wow. I got to do a lot of stuff.’

“But at the same time, I hated being gone. I love this. I’ve said it time and time again, I truly believe I was put on this earth to do this and for this company. So it was good to be home.”
