WWE Star Not Cleared Following Attack On Raw
Xavier Woods will need some additional time off to recover.
The former King of the Ring was struck with an office chair on the August 28th episode of Raw, resulting in whiplash and facilitating time away. Woods posted on social media that he will be missing the September 4th episode of Raw, which is also his birthday. Woods quoted a photo a fan took of him in the arena on social media with the following statement:
Moments before I had a chair hurled into my face giving me whiplash. Doctors orders, no wrestling next week. Was pumped to be out there on my birthday but it looks like I’ll be spending it at home next Monday. See yall the week after!
In the match that saw the flying chair, Woods teamed with Kofi Kingston to face The Viking Raiders. Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle were at ringside scouting The Raiders and were also targeted while sitting near the announcer’s desk. Kingston was launched into McIntyre and Riddle by Ivar, incensing The Scottish Warrior. McIntyre started throwing office chairs around, aiming for Erik but accidentally striking Woods.
Later in the show, McIntyre met with Kingston and apologised for the inadvertent shot. Kingston accepted the apology and recognised that it was an accident. McIntyre and Riddle will face The Viking Raiders in a Tornado Tag Team Match on the September 4th episode of Raw.
WWE Raw Builds To Payback
The August 28th episode was the go-home show for the Payback Premium Live Event and saw a new match added to the card. It looks to be do or die for The Judgment Day at the show, as Finn Balor and Damian Priest will challenge Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships. Rhea Ripley has made it clear that if all 4 members are not champions by the end of the night then changes will have to be made.
