WWE Star Has Mixed Emotions About CM Punk’s Return

According to one star, Seth Rollins might be on to something when it comes to CM Punk.

At Survivor Series CM Punk strolled out onto WWE television for the first time in almost a decade. While Punk got a monster reaction on the night in front of his home crowd, it had previously been reported that not everyone backstage was happy to see the star back in the fold.

Seth Rollins has repeatedly stated he’s no fan of Punk, and the pair seem set to settle their differences in the ring somewhere down the line. Someone else with their eye on Rollins and World Heavyweight Title is Jinder Mahal who is set to challenge for the gold on the January 15th episode of Raw.

Speaking to WWE India, Mahal gave his thoughts on Punk and admitted he’s got “mixed emotions” about his return.

“I have mixed emotions [laughs]. The fan in me is excited, excited for CM Punk’s return. I’m excited for the matches, I’m excited to get in the ring with CM Punk. But I do see Seth’s point because I was there when CM Punk was in WWE the last time, and Seth also has a point.

But nonetheless, let’s see what CM Punk does. Let’s see his attitude, let’s see his reaction. Let’s see if he offers up the opportunities to younger superstars. Let’s see. Overall, I’m excited. But I could see Seth’s point. But at the same time, we have a new generation of fans.

Some people watching haven’t seen CM Punk before, and this is the first time they’re seeing CM Punk. But CM Punk is one of the all-time greats, and I’m curious to see if he still has it. So let’s find out,”

CM Punk Confirmed For Huge WWE Show

Since returning to WWE, Punk has clashed on-screen with Drew McIntyre as well as Rollins, while he returned to the ring at a live event opposite Dominik Mysterio. It’s already been confirmed that the star will be competing in the Royal Rumble match, and it’s now been announced that CM Punk will feature at Elimination Chamber.

One star who won’t be at Elimination Chamber or Backlash is Roman Reigns who isn’t advertised for either event. It’s believed that Reigns will wrestle at the Royal Rumble and won’t be back in action until WrestleMania, with his schedule post-WrestleMania schedule looking equally sparse.

During 2023, Reigns wrestled only 11 times and was used sparingly on television. As of January 15th, 2024, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion hasn’t wrestled since November 4th at Crown Jewel where he got the better of LA Knight.
