Top WWE Star Teases Future Major International Show
With WWE choosing to run more international events than ever before, a current top WWE star has an idea in mind for a future venue.
Former WWE Raw & Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch wants a major WWE event to take place in her home country of Ireland.
This past Saturday at WWE Backlash in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the local fans got to root for two Puerto Ricans in a big match as Bad Bunny beat Damian Priest. Zelina Vega was emotional getting to perform in the country where her family came from and there were cameos from Carlito & Savio Vega that were received well since they are local legends.
At Clash at the Castle 2022 last September, World Wrestling Entertainment was back in the UK for a major Premium Live Event for the first time with over 50,000 fans at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. We have also seen regular events in Saudi Arabia for the last five years and Australia has had a major show as well with rumors of more coming.
When speaking to Mark Andrews on My Love Letter to Wrestling, Becky Lynch spoke about World Wrestling Entertainment being able to hold a major event in Ireland.
“We were just talking about that. Yes, I gave the venue and all, the RDS, we can have one.”
The RDS Arena in the Dublin suburb of Ballsbridge, Ireland holds about 18,000 people for events there. As for a stadium show, Lynch commented on that as well.
“I don’t know that we have the population to sustain it, but I think when you have the UK and Europe so close, absolutely.”
In September 2022, fellow Irish WWE star Sheamus tweeted about how Croke Park in Dublin could host the WWE event since it is known for hosting over 80,000 fans for the All-Ireland football and hurling championship finals.
