WWE Star’s Impromptu Line Gets Interesting Backstage Reaction

A funny line that a WWE superstar said during a promo was unscripted and it led to some interesting reactions backstage.

Oba Femi has been a dominant NXT North American Champion who appears to be the kind of man who is willing to take on comers, but perhaps not as much as some former champions like Wes Lee and Dragon Lee. Instead, Femi wants his opponents to earn their opportunities against him.

During a promo that aired on the WWE NXT episode on March 19th, Femi was confronted by Josh Briggs, who didn’t like how Femi destroyed his friend Brooks Jensen one week earlier.

There was also an interruption from Dijak, who was in customary black jacket and shades. When Dijak got out there, Briggs called Dijak a “wannabe Shaft” and said that this was between him and Femi.

The “wannabe Shaft” line is a reference to a famous movie and television character portrayed by Richard Roundtree and also Samuel J. Jackson in the 2000 and 2019 editions of the film. Roundtree and Jackson are both black men, so Dijak responded to Briggs by saying that he is white, unlike Shaft. The fans popped for that line with some laughter and even light chants.

According to Fightful Select, the Dijak response to what Briggs wasn’t planned so it was Dijak going off the cuff. The good news is that it drew some good laughs from people backstage.

WWE NXT Stars Set For Huge Matches

The next WWE NXT Premium Live event is called Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 6th in Philadelphia with a special 12 p.m. ET start time. Currently, there are four matches set for the show, but there is no NXT North American Title match on there yet.

However, there are two matches involving the men involved in the promo with Femi because Josh Briggs will face Duke Hudson while Dijak takes on Shawn Spears. It’s not known if Briggs and Dijak would get a title match if they win those matches, but it could certainly lead to a triple threat match.
