WWE Star Has “Full Trust” In Triple H

A current WWE Superstar seen on Friday Night SmackDown has spoken of their admiration for Triple H and says they have “full trust” in The Game.

Prior to joining the WWE main roster as Butch, Pete Dunne had made a name for himself in both NXT UK and NXT. For almost two years Dunne proudly waved the flag for British wrestling as the WWE UK Champion before losing the title to WALTER at TakeOver: New York in 2019.

More success came in NXT proper for Dunne when he captured the NXT Tag Team Championship with Matt Riddle in early 2020. Dunne also competed in three WarGames matches, coming out on the losing side both as part of Pat McAfee’s team and as a member of Team Black & Gold but he was on the winning side back in 2018 when he teamed with Ricochet and the War Raiders.

Eyebrows were raised when the English star was repackaged as the rabid Butch on the WWE main roster. However, while he retains that name as part of The Brawling Brutes, Butch has returned to the ring gear and style he is more closely associated with.

Speaking on the Out of Character podcast, Butch talked openly about his relationship with WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H:

“It’s great, he’s a great boss to work for, no bad things at all to say. I love the time with him in NXT, NXT UK was a blast. He’s always been great to me, super approachable. I was really happy to see him back in any capacity when he came back from his troubles. It was great to have him around, see him in some capacity and back to work.”

“Now, being head of creative, it’s even better because he’s there every week and he’s so approachable. I can go to him with any small thing. A lot of times, I can leave him to it, I have full trust in him.”

Butch went on to explain that his positive impression of Triple H dates back to the UK tournament the company held to crown the first WWE UK Champion in early 2017:

“That whole UK tournament, the trust he put in me to do that. To that point, he probably saw me have one tryout match. He probably had watched footage separately, but I hadn’t met him until the press conference, which was a few weeks before the UK tournament and never worked with him until the UK tournament and he had full trust in me to have three or four matches that weekend, to be the ongoing story that weekend, and build the UK title around me.”

“Myself, Tyler (Bate), Trent (Seven), Mark Andrews, others. The trust he put into me there, ever since then, my full trust is in him. I try not to bother him too much, but I know he’s there and approachable and I know I’m always going to enjoy the creative and I’m going to do the best I possibly can with it.”

Butch will have his chance to add another championship to his CV as he teams with Ridge Holland to challenge The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title at Crown Jewel.
