WWE Star Would Be Open To CM Punk Return
There is at least one WWE superstar who is open to the idea of CM Punk coming back to the company.
Following a backstage fight with Jack Perry at AEW All In London, All Elite Wrestling spent the next week investigating the matter. That would lead to AEW firing the two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk about two years after he started with the company.
That fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry took place about one year after Punk had a backstage fight with The Elite’s Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) in September 2022.
When CM Punk debuted in AEW in 2021, it was over seven years after he walked out of WWE in January 2014 when he was unhappy about a lot of things in the company. During his nearly decade-long WWE career, CM Punk was a five-time WWE World Champion who won several other titles while main eventing many pay-per-view events as well.
Now that Punk is free from his AEW contract, there are rumors that WWE may be interested in signing him to a deal although it’s also up to Punk and if he was willing to work there again.
Montez Ford would support a WWE return for CM Punk
The Street Profits duo of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins are impressing a lot of people on Smackdown with Bobby Lashley by their side.
While talking to The Happy Hour, Ford was asked about CM Punk possibly returning to WWE. Ford replied although he didn’t mention Punk by name.
“If they asked my opinion on it, I’m so open to every single aspect, talent in the world, whether they come from all works of life. I feel like everyone has something to bring to the table. Believe it or not, whether people love this individual or not, and this goes for any WWE superstar, if they are generating buzz and generating topics and generating people talking, that’s all good for business.”
“I love to be the person to always welcome someone back with great arms. If he wants to make his way back this way, I guess we can have a battle and see who is the best person from Chicago.”
Obviously, Montez Ford doesn’t make the decisions about who is hired and fired. The decision of CM Punk coming back to WWE would be up to Executive Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan and WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque among others.
While doing commentary for the Cage Fury Fighting Championships, which airs on UFC Fight Pass, Punk made a comment saying he had “some time on my hands for the next two months probably.”
That comment has led to speculation that CM Punk could return to WWE at Survivor Series on November 25th in Chicago, which is his hometown.
